Mercer - Ball Stealing

A tough encounter between these two teams was always on the cards. The Wolves first victory in Super League 3 was against the then high flying Halifax team, who went on to confound critics and well and truly put them on the map with an excellent third place overall in the league. Warringtons fate wasn't quite as sweet as the victory over Halifax kicked the season off after an aborted start only to see injuries and luck running out ealry on. Either way Halifax were in for a trip to wilderpsool that has only seen one victiory in well over ten seasons.

The conditions were a little blustery and weren't helped by Ropers kick-off straight into touch, obviously looking to exploit the new rule where if the ball bounces in the field of play and then finds touch the kicking team get the head and feed at the resulting scrum.
