A quick trip up the M62 (or M60 or M602 whichever it is nowadays) to close neighbours Salford on a lovely Bank Holiday. The Reds are in turmoil with former Wire player Andy Gregory at the helm. Gregory, who played scrum half for Warrington during the eighties before moving on to Wigan, has seen his side lose both of their league games this season. A threat that the lively manager would quick was quickly nipped in the bud by Reds chairman John Wilkinson. Gregory stays.... for now.
The Wolves had Lee Penny back after being subbed in the Bradford Challenge Cup game when his injured thumb should have kept him out of the squad, Jon Roper moved back to loose forward and Ian Knott takes over from Steve McCurrie in the second row.
A bright sunny day and all is well, especially after Lee Penny shows his worth eraly on with a fantastic early try to boost the Wolves.
